36 ETCP Renewal Credits

This 5-day training program is a combination of CM-ET’s  Hoist Stage Technician Certification plus hands-on rope access and rigging training. Manufacturers’ representatives from Xtreme Structures & Fabrication and Motion Laboratories will also be on hand to teach proper safety and use of truss and motor control systems. Participants receive 36 points towards the renewal of their ETCP Certification.

Rigging Techniques - 3 days (May 18-20)

  • Structure Climbing and Work Positioning
  • Rope Access, Ascending, Descending, and Rescue
  • Entertainment Rigging
  • Truss Use and Inspection
  • Motor Control and Load Monitoring

Columbus McKinnon Stage Technician Certification - 2 days (May 21-22)

This course is designed for entertainment professionals responsible for ensuring the show goes on, every time. This hands-ontwo day, ETCP recognized training course covers the design and operation of a hoist, maintenance requirements and needs, startup inspection and troubleshooting. The course content focuses on the mechanical and electrical systems of the Lodestar and Prostar electric chain hoists.
Students will learn:

  • Safe practices for handling and operation.
  • How to perform frequent & periodic inspections, per ANSI E1.6-2 standards.
  • How to adjust and replace limits switches, brakes, and power & control cables.
  • Troubleshoot potential issues found in the field.
  • Asses and report malfunctions that require the hoist to be sent out for repair.

The course is concluded by a written exam. Successful completion of this exam awards the student with a Stage Tech Motor Certification, valid for five years.

Meet Your Trainers

Dave Carmack has more than 40 years of service with CM and has served many roles during his tenure. From 20 years of manufacturing the Lodestar, to Engineering Research and Development Lab Technician and Product Engineer before becoming Entertainment Trainer. Dave has taught classes on 6 of the 7 continents.

Bob Lannon is an ETCP Arena /Theater certified rigger, Society of Rope Access Level 3 Technician and CM Certified Hoist Technician. He is a working Entertainment and Traveling production Rigger with over 20 years of experience working at height in the Entertainment, Building Maintenance, and Media Marketing Industries. He has worked on a variety of locations and structures from Arenas and Stadiums, High Rise Buildings, Towers, and Smoke Stacks.

The Rigging Techniques course is limited to only eight (8) participants and can fill up quickly. The CM Stage Technician Certification class has room for up to twenty (20) attendees. If the training for which you wish to register if sold out, please contact to be added to the wait list.
