Columbus McKinnon is dedicated to supporting its distributors in promoting the safe and efficient use of its products. Dave Carmack, a member of our professional training team, will be guest teaching this class on-site at Reed Rigging.
Learn the critical skills you need to effectively work in live event production. This 5-day training program is a combination of CM-ET’s well-known RTC training plus hands-on rope access and rigging training. Manufacturers’ representatives from Xtreme Structures & Fabrication and Motion Laboratories will also be on hand to teach proper safety and use of truss and motor control systems.
- Structure Climbing and Work Positioning

- Truss Use and Inspection
- Motor Control and Load Monitoring
Participants can earn up to 24 training credits towards the renewal of their ETCP Certification.
Columbus McKinnon RTC Motor Certification School
This ETCP-recognized training session covers all aspects of the design and operation of hoists, maintenance needs, inspection requirements and troubleshooting procedures. This course also delves deep into electrical theory and troubleshooting of the popular Lodestar and Prostar hoists.
Participants can earn up to 12 training credits towards the renewal of their ETCP Certification.
Meet Your Trainers
Dave Carmack is in his 41st year with CM and has served many roles during his tenure. From 20 years of manufacturing the Lodestar to Engineering Research and Development, Lab Technician and Product Engineer before becoming our Entertainment Trainer. Dave has taught classes on 6 of the 7 continents.
Bob Lannon is an ETCP Arena /Theater certified rigger, Society of Rope Access Level 3 Technician and CM Certified Hoist Technician. He is a working Entertainment and Traveling Production Rigger with over 20 years of experience working at height in the Entertainment, Building Maintenance, and Media Marketing Industries. He has worked on a variety of locations and structures from Arenas and Stadiums, High Rise Buildings, Towers, and Smoke Stacks.
The Rigging Techniques course is limited to only eight (8) participants and can fill up quickly. The CM RTC Motor School has room for up to twenty (20) attendees. Once space is filled for any course, the form below will be updated to a “Wait-List Only” status.
